Bears!

I was thrilled to have the chance to briefly glimpse this grizzly mama and cubs make their way through the snow. I’m guessing they literally just emerged from their den because when I looked more carefully later in the day through the spotting scope I could see their tracks descending from the mountain. Rumor has it this mama is the granddaughter of famed bear 399. But despite the certainty of some, the sighting was just too far away to be sure, and she is not collared. Here’s to many more encounters this season!
